Welcome to Nata Portuguese Bakery, New Zealand's premier destination for authentic Portuguese tarts. I'm Pedro, the proud owner and Pastry Chef of this unique bakery.

Originally from Portugal, I moved to New Zealand in 2015 to work in the IT sector. However, it wasn't long before I discovered a surprising love for Portugal's most famous pastry, the "Pastel de Nata", within the local community. This realization ignited a spark in me. I saw a perfect opportunity to bring a piece of my home to New Zealand and share the rich culinary tradition of Portugal.

Leaving behind my career in IT, I journeyed back to Portugal to train as a professional Pastry Chef, with a special focus on crafting the perfect Portuguese Custard Tart. It was an intense and rewarding experience, filled with countless hours of practice and the pursuit of pastry perfection.

In 2016, my dream came to fruition when I opened Nata Portuguese Bakery. We started as a small, passionate team dedicated to delivering the authentic taste of Portuguese tarts to the Kiwi palate. Our pastries are crafted with meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Today, we have expanded our reach by distributing our delicious tarts to coffee shops, restaurants, and the bakery sections of Farro and Countdown supermarkets nationwide. We take immense pride in seeing our authentic Portuguese tarts being enjoyed by so many people, and we're continually inspired to keep improving and expanding.
